King Charles Met His Toughest Critic Yet — A Crying Baby originally appeared on Parade.
King Charles thought he was just making a routine royal visit to RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland. Little did he know, he was about to face his toughest critic yet – a baby who wasn’t having any of it.
The 76-year-old monarch, dressed in his Marshal’s uniform and adorned with Scotland’s highest chivalric honors, presented the Squadron Standard to the newly reformed Number 42 Squadron.
While Charles was performing his duties, delivering speeches and meeting with crew, cameras captured the viral moment that has the internet in tears – from laughter.
As His Majesty approached a group of local military families, one little one took a glance at the King and decided to break out in sobs. The baby let out a cry that could probably be heard all the way back to Buckingham Palace.
The poor mom couldn’t help but laugh as she tried to console her infant, while King Charles proved he’s got serious grandpa energy. In the viral clip, Charles looked completely unfazed. It seems he even cracked a quick joke that had everyone around him smiling.

Beyond the humor, the latest visit wasn’t just ceremonial for Charles, it was seemingly a reunion. The King revealed that RAF Lossiemouth sits right at the end of his old school’s runway.
“In the 1960s, it was the Royal Navy’s Buccaneer aircraft that took off and landed over us,” Charles shared, painting a picture of his Gordonstoun school days.
The moment got even more touching when Charles mentioned how his late father, Prince Philip, had last presented the Squadron Standard to this very unit. The flag, he said, represents “the sacrifices and achievements of those who have served under its banner.”
His visit to RAF Lossiemouth is likely one of his final official appearances this August, as he typically takes a few weeks off around this time to unwind and recharge before the fall season begins.
