During her headline performance on Saturday, August 2 in England, the pop icon experienced what she describes as a “not cool” wardrobe malfunction that nearly derailed the moment — but she handled it like a pro. Speaking on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden days later on Tuesday, August 6, Carey opened up about the scramble behind-the-scenes.
“It was a lot of rehearsing and then we had a wardrobe malfunction, which was kind of not cool,” she said. “It was right in the front area. I saved it, nobody saw it. Otherwise, it would’ve been talked about.”
Rather than panic, the Grammy winner smoothly handled the situation mid-show. “I turned around and walked through the dancers,” she recalled. “I was so mad.”

Though she didn’t specify which ensemble caused the issue, Carey’s glittering wardrobe certainly stole the spotlight anyway. She cycled through several eye-catching looks during her Brighton set — including two sparkling ombré bodycon dresses with silver thigh-high boots, a gold mini dress, and a black slip with glittering heels. One dazzling jacket read “Protect the Dolls” across the back.
After the performance, Carey took to Instagram to share her gratitude, writing, “An unforgettable night,” which received a slew of comments from fans.
‘Everyone about last night was PERFECT!!! The ensembles, the setlist, the vocals,” one declared.
Another said, “Still in awe and buzzing from last night.”
“A true singer, songwriter, producer, icon and inspiration for everybody! God bless you always Mariah,” a third gushed,
Paris Hilton even chimed in, asking about Carey’s dress. “Who made that dress Queen?” she asked.
Even in the face of a fashion emergency, Carey proved she could keep it cool, as seemingly no one in the comments section noticed her debacle.
