Legendary ’70s Rock Icon Returned to Touring Classic Songs After Nearly 18 Years originally appeared on Parade.

It took David Gilmour nearly 18 years to return to touring with some of Pink Floyd’s classic songs. During his 2024 solo run, the legendary artist finally performed some of the biggest tracks of his career — and now, viewers can watch from home in his upcoming concert film.

David Gilmour Live at the Circus Maximus Rome just dropped the trailer for the highly anticipated movie. Longtime supporters of the rock star can see the film in theaters starting September 17, or wait for the home video and audio release on October 17.

Before his 2024 tour, Gilmour told Rolling Stones he was open to playing a few tracks from his Pink Floyd days. “One has to wake up to reality once in a while,” he said.

“I think I will be doing one or two things from that time, but it just seems so long ago. I know people love them, and I love playing them. I’ll be doing ‘Wish You Were Here,’ of course, I will. And some of the things that started with me anyway.”

The last time Gilmour toured playing Pink Floyd songs was back in 2007 during the On an Island tour. While he did perform a special one-off concert in 2016, the historic Live at Pompeii show, that wasn’t part of a full series.

However, the 2016 Live at Pompeii performance was a landmark event, staged in the same ancient Roman amphitheater where Pink Floyd filmed their iconic 1972 live concert film Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii.

That show featured many classic Floyd tracks, including “Wish You Were Here,” “Money,” “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” and “Comfortably Numb.”

With the upcoming release of the concert film, fans will have the chance to experience Gilmour’s live performance from the comfort of their own homes. As for the setlist, expect to hear some classic Pink Floyd tracks making a return, including:

Breathe (In The Air), Time, Fat Old Sun, Wish You Were Here, Comfortably Numb (Encore), and a few more surprises — but we won’t spoil it all just yet.
