As moody yet ethereal aesthetics à la Nosferatu and Wednesday take over the fashion crowd ahead of fall, the Pretty Baby actress put a surprisingly medieval twist on her lingerie-inspired LBD while stepping out in New York City on August 6.
Holding an ice cream cone in hand as she headed to the AMC Upfront on Wednesday, Shields turned heads in a high-low black silk dress that could have belonged in her boudoir, thanks to delicate, vintage-inspired cream lace that trimmed her ultra-mini hemline as well as the low-cut neckline.The sheer lace and dotted mesh material also covered the Mother of the Bride actress’s chest and arms with a Victorian-style mock neckline.

Layers of the same delicate fabric also fanned out behind her in a long train, giving the lingerie-inspired number a high-low silhouette. As Shields posed for the cameras from every angle, she lifted her arms, showing off dramatic, mid calf-length sheer lace bell sleeves that added an unexpected Renaissance-era detail into the mix. Her dress was cinched at the waist with a bathrobe-esque matching silk sash, bringing a hint of structure to the otherwise ethereal, floaty number.

Shields paired her asymmetrical silk and lace minidress with black sheer tights and shiny patent black leather pumps, which added several inches to her stature.
