  • Eminem recalls being chased by a mob at a mall in the new documentary STANS

  • In the film, Eminem says that moment made him realize “my life really has changed” — and he had reached a new level of fame

  • STANS, which focuses on the complicated relationship between Eminem and his fanbase, is available to watch at AMC Theatres from Aug. 7-10

Eminem is opening up about a scary fan encounter.

In STANS, which is available to watch at AMC Theatres from Aug. 7-10, the “Lose Yourself” rapper recalls a trip he took to the mall with daughter Hailie Jade McClintock — and why it was his last.

“I remember one time me and Hailie went to the mall in L.A., it was the last time I went to the mall as me. Like, not f—ing disguised,” Eminem, 52, says in the documentary.

He adds, “Every store we went in, we come out and there’s a bigger crowd, a bigger crowd, a bigger crowd. It got to the point where I was like… I picked her up and I was like, ‘C’mon kiddo. Time to go.'”

By this point, the “Houdini” rapper says he found himself walking “faster and faster and faster” — and realized the crowd was speeding up behind him.

“It literally felt like I was being chased out the f—ing mall,” he says. “That was one of those moments when I realized, like, my life really has changed. I can’t do this anymore because I’ve got to protect my baby. So that was a scary moment. It was scary for her too. I asked and she doesn’t remember it,” he says, adding that it was “f—ing crazy.”

The documentary, which was named after his 2000 hit song, focuses on the “complicated relationship between one of the world’s most private artists and his massive public persona,” a synopsis reads.

“Through stylized recreations, rare archival footage, intimate interviews, and an exclusive original interview with Eminem himself, it offers a raw, loud, and revealing journey across his career — and the passionate audience that has grown with him.”

A “highly curated cast of real-life stans” with “deep personal connections to Eminem” and his music are featured in the film, which was directed by Steven Leckart.

Meanwhile, in June, McClintock, 29, opened up to PEOPLE about raising her firstborn baby, son Elliot Marshall, in the spotlight.

“Having been in the spotlight for so long, I’ve learned the importance of balancing what I share publicly with what I keep private,” McClintock who was born to the rapper and his ex-wife, Kim Scott, said. “Over time, I’ve come to understand the struggle my father faced — wanting to protect our privacy while also feeling proud and wanting to celebrate his kids.”

“I feel the same way now,” she said of her mixed feelings about raising a baby amid fame. “I want to share the proud, joyful moments that mean a lot to me, especially as a parent, but I’m also intentional about keeping certain parts of our lives just for us.”

STANS will be in AMC Theatres from Thursday, Aug. 7 to Sunday, Aug. 10. The documentary will be available to stream internationally on Paramout+ later this year.
