RuPaul’s Drag Race legend Alaska is officially off the market.
On Monday, August 4, the Season 5 finalist and All Stars 2 winner announced her engagement to longtime partner Matthew Herrmann. The proposal happened the day before, following a special celebration for Alaska’s grandmother’s 90th birthday in her hometown of Erie, Pennsylvania.
“My longtime partner Matthew Herrmann proposed to me yesterday,” Alaska, 40, told Entertainment Weekly. “It was after my grandma’s 90th birthday celebration.”
She added, “I love him so much and he’s the best.”

Alaska, whose real name is Justin Honard, also shared the happy news on Instagram, posting a photo of her hand with a silver ring on her left finger. “💍 💍 🥰🥰,” she captioned the image.

Before Herrmann, Alaska famously dated Drag Race Season 4 winner Sharon Needles. The two were together for several years before splitting in 2013.
Alaska first appeared on Drag Race Season 5 in 2013, placing as a finalist, then returned to win All Stars 2 in 2016. She currently co-hosts the Race Chaser podcast with Willam, a Season 4 alum known for being the first queen disqualified from the show.
