Liam Neeson is teaming up with his former mother-in-law, Vanessa Redgrave, for an explosive new sci-fi comedy.
Neeson and Redgrave appear alongside Stranger Things star Joe Keery, Barbarian breakout Georgina Campbell, Smile‘s Sosie Bacon, and the legendary Lesley Manville in the first trailer for the sci-fi comedy Cold Storage, which features more than one head exploding into neon green chunks. This is the first time Neeson and Redgrave have appeared in the same movie, though they have maintained a close bond since Richardson’s death 16 years ago. The late Parent Trap star, who first met Neeson when they costarred on Broadway, died in March 2009 at age 45 after suffering a head injury while skiing. The couple welcomed two children together and were married for 15 years before her tragic death.
While the Taken star doesn’t share any scenes with Redgrave in Cold Storage, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he expects her to steal the movie.
“The day she started work was the day I actually flew back home from Rome,” he told the outlet. “But we were in the same hotel, and so we had dinner. Her character and her scenes in the film, she’s probably going to steal the movie. She’s perfect casting for it. It’s a good script and a good story. But, yeah, she’s going to steal the fecking movie.”
Written by David Koepp, who just collaborated on back-to-back projects with Steven Soderbergh (Presence, Black Bag), Cold Storage is directed by British filmmaker Jonny Campbell (Doctor Who, Westworld). The trailer teases a riff on Alien‘s gut-bursting thrills set in a Fallout-esque arid wasteland in the throes of a The Last of Us-style viral apocalypse — but with plenty more humor.

Neeson can currently be seen in the Naked Gun reboot alongside Pamela Anderson, with whom he’s recently sparked dating rumors.
Cold Storage releases in theaters nationwide in 2026.
