Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson continue to prove their chemistry is as hot as ever.
The pair were photographed together on set filming their upcoming movie trilogy, Happy Hours, in New York City on Tuesday, August 5. A series of snaps showed Holmes, 46, leaping in Jackson’s arms for a hug as he lifted her off the ground. Another image captured the duo seemingly having a sweet dance together. (It’s unclear whether they were in character or having fun behind the scenes.)
News broke last month that Holmes would be writing, directing and starring in the series of films opposite her former Dawson’s Creek costar. The duo sent the internet ablaze days later when they were pictured in NYC filming scenes for the project, which follows two young lovers who reconnect and rekindle their romance years later.
Mary-Louise Parker, Constance Wu, Joe Tippett, John McGinty, Donald Webber Jr. and Nathan Darrow are also set to star in the trilogy, while Johnna Dias-Watson and Jack Martin will portray the younger versions of Holmes and Jackson’s characters.

This, of course, is far from the first time Holmes and Jackson, 47, have worked together. The twosome starred as Joey Potter and Pacey Witter on the beloved teen drama Dawson’s Creek from 1998 to 2003. While Joey began the series intrinsically tied to her longtime best friend Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek), she eventually fell head over heels for Pacey, sparking a three-season love triangle that ultimately ended with Joey and Pacey riding off into the sunset.
Off screen, Holmes and Jackson also formed a close bond while shooting in Wilmington, North Carolina. The pair dated during the first season of the series before calling it quits ahead of season 2, although they remained close friends throughout the show’s run.
Shortly after their split, Holmes shared a glimpse into her dating life during a 1998 interview with Rolling Stone, revealing she was “more apt to go for a dark-haired man” before detailing her experience with Jackson.
“I fell in love, I had my first love, and it was something so incredible and indescribable that I will treasure it always,” she admitted. “And that I feel so fortunate because he’s now one of my best friends. It’s weird, it’s almost like a Dawson-and-Joey type thing now.”
Jackson, for his part, got candid about the ups and downs of his relationship with Holmes while appearing on Late Night With Conan O’Brien in 2006.
“Katie and I did have a romance. Which is ancient history now, but I can’t tell you how much fun it is to have an actual romance, and then we broke up, and then a year later to have an onscreen romance,” he quipped. “Because there’s nothing more fun than going to work with your ex-girlfriend everyday.”
Looking into the camera, he added, “Sorry, Katie, I love you, but it was a little difficult there for a while,” before pointing out that fiction imitated reality too much at times.
“When you’re reading the scripts, you’re like, ‘Did I say that to her? That’s not healthy, this shouldn’t be … oh, my God,’” he said before putting his head in his hands.

Jackson explained, “Katie and I are very close. Busy [Philipps] and Michelle [Williams] are very, very close.”
Earlier this year, Jackson gave an update on his dynamic with Holmes and the rest of the Dawson’s Creek cast.
“Katie and I are very close. Busy and Michelle are very, very close,” he shared on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s “Dinner’s on Me” podcast. “Sometimes it’s not a weekly or monthly or even a half-yearly call, but when you’re together — there’s always that, ‘I know, you know.’”
