The Los Angeles Rams are signing running back Kyren Williams to a three-year extension, USA TODAY Sports’ Tyler Dragon has confirmed. The deal is worth up to $33 million with $23 million guaranteed.

Williams was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract in 2025 – as a fifth-round pick, his rookie deal did not include a fifth-year option.

The Notre Dame product emerged as a budding star playmaker for the Rams over his last two seasons, surpassing 1,100 yards on the ground in both 2023 and 2024 while also adding value as a pass-catcher at the running back position.

In 2023, Williams led the league with his 95.3 rushing yards per game, as he compiled 1,144 yards in 12 games. In 2024, he set new career highs with his 1,299 rushing yards, 14 touchdowns and 316 carries. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Williams “accounted for 43% of the Rams’ total touches last season, the highest rate in the NFL.”

Williams was eligible to sign a contract extension after playing his third season in the NFL last year. He opted not to holdout (or hold in) for a new contract and had been a full participant in Rams training camp prior to signing his extension.

“For me, it’s a lot bigger than the contract negotiations,” he said at the start of training camp. “It’s putting my feet on the ground and continuing to get better, continuing to keep being who I am as a person, as a player, as an athlete, as a teammate, and as a brother. I’m trying to facilitate it to be the best that I can be. Being here right now is a no-brainer because I’ve got people to take care of. Putting my feet on the grass is the only way I know how to do that.”
