Brandi Glanville is under fire — thanks to a “beauty hack” of her own making.

Amid The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum’s ongoing struggle with facial disfigurement, she shared a TikTok on Sunday, Aug. 3, detailing a “good” beauty treatment that led users to suspect she may have suffered a chemical burn.

In the video, the Bravo star, 52, told her followers, “Good news, you guys don’t have to spend a lot of money on pills and lasers anymore, because I decided to put Nair on my face.” Glanville decided to do so, she explained, because when she has an “exfoliated face,” it “pisses” the parasite she believes to be living in her face “off.”

The reality star — who has long shared theories that a facial parasite is living just below her skin, causing her disfiguration — claimed that when she did the Nair treatment, the parasite moved away from where she placed it on her lower face.

“Nair is the fountain of youth. I figured it out,” she said in the TikTok. “But I overdid it,” she added. In the caption, she elaborated, stating that she should have left the product on for less time, “’cause I’m in some pain.”

“Beauty hacks (this is a good one but do a test patch)I did 7 minutes and I’m on fire sooooioko don’t to 7 minutes,” the RHOBH alum wrote. She also claimed in the caption that the hair-removal product “burned the loose skin off my arms.”

Users in her comments were worried by the star’s appearance after using the so-called “hack,” however, sharing concerns that she may have suffered a chemical burn and should seek medical help.

“Chemical burn? I would go to ER,” one commenter wrote, while another warned Glanville, “Please do NOT put Nair in your face!!”

A spokesperson for Nair did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment. According to the hair removal brand’s website, however, some of its products can be used on the face, but a patch test is essential first. Glanville did not specify which product she used.

“Always do a patch test before using hair removal cream, even if you’ve used it successfully before,” the official Nair website states. “Body chemistry is always changing, and reactions can change with time. If the patch test is all clear, then you can go ahead and remove your unwanted facial hair with Nair™.”

According to Healthline, even following instructions to a tee can’t always prevent chemical burns, however.

“Nair and other depilatory creams can burn your skin, even if you use them as intended,” according to Healthline. “The active ingredients in Nair are chemicals like calcium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide. These chemicals cause the hair shaft to swell so the chemicals can enter and break down the hair. However, these chemicals may also burn or irritate the skin.”

Healthline also warns that if you suffer a burn after using Nair and it “starts to turn yellow, blister, or ooze, contact a doctor immediately, as this can be a sign of a more serious infection.”

Glanville has been documenting her journey since she started getting treatment for a mystery illness that has been causing a facial disfigurement in 2023. It all began when she was diagnosed with a stress-induced angioedema, a condition that caused her face to swell up.

In late 2024, she told Entertainment Tonight she believes she contracted a “parasite” from her time in Morocco while filming Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. “We had food sitting out for hours on end, and some of it was meat,” she told ET, adding that it started in July 2023, “six months” after she returned from the trip.
