Eleonora Boi opened up about getting bit by a shark in Puerto Rico on her Instagram
The wife of former NBA player, Danilo Gallinari, reportedly suffered an open wound on her thigh during the attack
Boi, who is from Italy, is the mother of two kids and expected her third with Gallinari
Eleonora Boi is recovering from a shark attack.
The wife of former NBA star Danilo Gallinari who is pregnant with her third child was bit my the apex predator while swimming at a beach in Puerto Rico’s Carolina Resort, and later opened up about the incident on her Instagram.
“It was the worst day of my life, maybe my grandmother Nella was right when she said ‘on the seas you traitors’,” she began her caption alongside a photo of herself bandaged up in a hospital bed posted on Friday, Aug. 1.
“I never thought I could get attacked by a shark and I was near the shore and on a super crowded beach,” she continued. “Thankfully me and my baby are fine, I was rushed to the rescue and the surgery to fix my poor bruised leg went well.”

“Now I just have to recover from the great scare and try to forgive the great friend who betrayed me.
Shark will hear from my legals soon as possible,” she wrote, before expressing her appreciation for those who reached out to her in the wake of the incident.
“Thank you all for the great love and thank you for worrying about us with a message or a prayer ❤️. I thank my husband who despite being married to Fantozzi-Boi he gave me all his love and courage,” she concluded.

On Thursday, July 31, the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources (DRNA) announced the news of the incident, but didn’t disclose the identity of the woman at the time.
According to El Nuevo Día, Carolina Municipal Police Commissioner Captain Rubén Moyeno later confirmed that the victim is Gallinari’s wife. She reportedly sustained an open wound on her thigh during the attack, but is in stable condition.
After the encounter, Boi was transported to the Medical Center in Río Piedras to be treated. Per the outlet, local authorities are investigating the incident.

Gallinari, who currently plays for the Vaqueros de Bayamon in Puerto Rico, was selected by the New York Knicks in the 2008 NBA Draft.
Over the course of his career, the athlete has gone onto play for several other teams. Among them include the Denver Nuggets, Los Angeles Clippers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons and Milwaukee Bucks. Gallinari last played in the NBA during the 2023-24 season.
Boi, an Italian native who’s from Sardinia, is a sports journalist and shares two children with Gallinari, who she wed in July 2022.
