  • The questions ranged from topics of soulmates, letting go of things that no longer serve you and comfort foods

  • Bertinelli has been open about her self-healing journey and self-love since her split with writer Mike Goodnough

Valerie Bertinelli answered burning questions from fans and didn’t hold back on her responses.

On Thursday, July 31, the celebrity chef, 65, sat down to answer a few juicy questions from The Drew Barrymore Show’s audience. In the video, shared on the show’s social channels, Bertinelli opened up about her belief in soulmates and how they may appear.

“I wish I knew if I believe in soulmates,” the star confessed. “You know how sometimes you walk into a room and there are certain people you just feel a connection with? Maybe that’s it, I don’t know.” Bertinelli goes on to explain that she feels different connections depending on the person in life, whether close proximity or from a distance.

When a producer from the behind the cameras asked Bertinelli if she believes those connections change over times, she replied enthusiastically, “I think as you change, and you grow as a human being, I think you find different connections with different people and you’re ready for those connections that you weren’t ready for 10 20, 30 years ago.”

She also shared her thoughts on how she knows when it’s time to leave a situation. “When something is disturbing your peace, it’s time to let it go,” she answered plainly. “Doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy to let it go, because if you’re anything like me, I am determined to make something work.

Bertinelli continues, “I’m determined to be ‘the good one,’ to be ‘the kind one.’ And sometimes, things just don’t work. And you have to understand that it’s okay that it doesn’t work. And you can move on.”

In November 2024, it was reported that Bertinelli split ways with her boyfriend of 10 months, Mike Goodnough.

“They are no longer in a relationship,” a source confirmed to PEOPLE at the time. Not much as been shared on their relationship and the reason behind the separation. However, Goodnough did tell PEOPLE, “Valerie and I are the only two people with insight into our relationship. Neither of us pays much attention to chatter among people outside of it.”

Since then, Bertinelli has been focused on healing and self-love. “I’m a good person, I’m kind and caring, I treat others the way I want to be treated. I’m resilient, I’m low maintenance, I feel things deeply, I love hard, I exude equanimity from my soul,” she wrote in an Instagram caption in May. “Equanimity is a daily choice I work at, encourage and feed. It’s the good work. And that’s enough for me.”
