NEED TO KNOW

  • Anthony Hopkins tested out SKIMS’ new Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap in a video posted to his Instagram Thursday, July 31

  • The actor channeled his The Silence of the Lambs character, Hannibal Lecter, for the video

  • In the film, Lecter is forced to wear a tan face mask — which bears a resemblance to the SKIMS Face Wrap — to stop him from acting out on his cannibalistic desires

Consider Anthony Hopkins a fan of SKIMS!

The Silence of the Lambs actor, 87, shared an Instagram video of himself on Thursday, July 31, testing out the latest offering from Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS shapewear line — the new Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap, which retails for $48.

In the video, Hopkins wore the Face Wrap in the shade “clay,” and fastened it around his chin, neck and ears. The item also comes in a dark brown shade titled “cocoa.”

The look recalls his cannibalistic The Silence of the Lambs character, Dr. Hannibal Lecter, who is forced to wear a tan face mask in the movie to prevent him from biting others while imprisoned.

Hopkins put on his chilling Hannibal Lecter voice and mannerisms in the video, and noted that he feels “10 years younger” after using the mask. The actor extended his cheeky endorsement of the product in the caption of his post, writing, “Thank you, Kim. Don’t be afraid to come over for dinner @kimkardashian @skims.”

The dinner invite also likely serves as another call back to the 1991 psychological thriller, in which Lecter tells FBI Academy student, Clarice M. Starling — played by Jodie Foster, who won Best Actress at the 1992 Academy Awards for her portrayal of the character — “I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti.”

Fans in the comments section of the post loved Hopkins’s take on the SKIMS shapewear item. “This is the best publicity you could get @kimkardashian! lol. You have to reply. This is so epic!” one user wrote.

Another fan wondered if Hopkins was going to actually channel Hannibal Lecter’s cannibalistic tendencies. “Are you having Kim for dinner???” the user asked. A third user, meanwhile, joked that they’re having a “Hannibal girl summer.”

The SKIMS Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap, released on Wednesday, July 29, boasts the brand’s “signature sculpting fabric and features collagen yarns for ultra-soft jaw support. Velcro closures at the top and nape of the neck allow for easy, everyday wear.” The brand also described the item as “a must-have addition to your nightly routine.”

The item is currently sold out on the SKIMS website, despite mixed reactions to its release on social media. Fans hoping for a restock can sign up to be placed on a waitlist for updates.
