Ada Valley Meat Company has recalled approximately 1,065 pounds of a fully cooked frozen ground beef product due to possible contamination with a foreign material, specifically metal, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

The FSIS announced on Tuesday, July 29, that the frozen ground beef subject to recall was packaged in 20-pound cardboard box cases, each containing four 5-lb. plastic bags of “Ada Valley FULLY COOKED GROUND BEEF.”

The recalled items were shipped to distributors in California, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

The labels on the recalled items show a 35156 lot code, meaning that they were packaged on May 28, 2025, or a 35157 lot code, meaning that they were packaged on May 30, 2025.

They bear the establishment number “EST. 10031” inside the USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) mark of inspection.

Some of the recalled products, however, could bear a different establishment number on the label due to further distribution and processing by other establishments, according to the FSIS.

Ada Valley Meat Company became aware of the possible contamination after receiving a consumer complaint reporting that pieces of metal were found in the product.

Although there have been no confirmed reports of injury, the FSIS is concerned that some of the recalled products may still be in institutional freezers.

Institutions that have recalled ground beef are advised not to serve these products and should dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase.

The FSIS urges consumers to carefully review the product and label information on the ground beef and check back frequently on their website, as additional products could be added. PEOPLE has reached out to Ada Valley Meat Company for comment.
