The Oak Ridge Boys began their American Made: Farewell Tour in September 2023, celebrating over 50 years of touring.
The Grammy Award-winning group began as the Oak Ridge Quartet in East Tennessee in 1945 before changing the name in 1962, Billboard reported. Over 30 people have performed in the vocal quartet throughout the years.
Its longest-lasting lineup was formed in 1973 and includes Allen, 86-year-old Golden, and 82-year-old Sterban. It also included the late Joe Bonsall before James, 29, replaced his role in December 2023.
Bonsall died at age 76 on July 9, 2024, leaving behind a lasting legacy of talent.
Some of the group’s biggest hits include 1981’s “Elvira,” 1982’s “Bobbie Sue,” 1979’s “Leaving Louisiana in the Broad Daylight,” and 1985’s “Little Things.”
