NBC is giving the people what they want—more Kelly Clarkson.
In addition to hosting her eponymous talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, the American Idol alum will be taking her talents to a new four-episode special titled Songs & Stories with Kelly Clarkson.
The previously announced “unique programming event” will grace TV screens starting on Tuesday, Aug. 19, followed by episodes released on Aug. 26, Sept. 2 and Sept. 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, followed by next-day streaming on Peacock.
With the premiere coming up quickly, NBC released a first-look at the cover art for the special, with the Grammy winner clad in a leather dress, paired with a bold red lip and loose curls, alongside fellow industry greats and her first guests: Gloria Estefan, the Jonas Brothers, Lizzo and Teddy Swims.

Fans made it clear that in addition to their excitement for the upcoming special, Clarkson has kept herself quite busy, as she’s also in the middle of a Vegas residency running through August with more shows in November.
One even questioned, “Does she sleep?”
“We 👏 are 👏 seated!!!” someone else wrote, as another added, “Omg love! Here for it!!!!” and, “Can’t wait to tune in!!! 👏👏👏.”
“C’MON KELLY IN PRIMETIME!!” one declared.
And even though it hasn’t premiered yet, many chimed in with requests, such as, “Hope she can sit with [Taylor Swift] one day!!! 🫶🏽,” “PLEASE DO MARIAH [Carey],” “Adele, Mariah and Bruno Mars next, pleeeaaaaase!!!” and, “We want the legend Christina Aguilera.”
Many agreed, as one echoed, “This is brilliant. We need a LOT more of these episodes!!!!”
Per Variety, the “Songs & Stories” format originated during a popular segment on her syndicated daytime talk show, with fans loving the heartfelt conversations between Clarkson and her guests that often resulted in a powerful duet.

Here’s the special’s official logline: “The conversations are a front-row pass for Kelly Clarkson to engage with some of her favorite celebrities and examine both their music and personal lives. The specials are a forum where iconic voices meet heartfelt storytelling through unfiltered conversation and sung in an intimate, unplugged setting.”
The official numbers may not be in just yet, but based on early fan reactions, it’s safe to assume that NBC struck gold with this program.
