NEED TO KNOW

  • Drake has officially canceled his previously postponed Australia and New Zealand concerts

  • The rapper first delayed four of the remaining shows from his Anita Max Win tour in February

  • According to Live Nation Australia, rescheduling “was not possible”

Drake has canceled the remaining shows of his Anita Max Win tour through Australia and New Zealand.

The four concerts in Sydney as well as Brisbane, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand were initially postponed in February, with the rapper’s rep saying they were “actively working on rescheduling these dates along with adding some additional shows,” according to Rolling Stone Australia.

In a statement posted to its website as of Tuesday, July 29, Live Nation Australia confirmed that “the previously postponed Drake shows in Australia and New Zealand have now been officially canceled.” The concert promotion firm added that “despite extensive efforts to find a solution, rescheduling within the necessary timeframe was not possible.”

On Feb. 26, the “Nokia” performer, 38, announced that he had delayed back-to-back shows at Auckland’s Spark Arena, initially scheduled for March 15 and March 16, as well as additional stops at Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane on March 4 and Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney on March 7.

The shows were part of the 16-date Anita Max Win tour, which included completed stops in Perth, Melbourne as well as previous shows in Sydney and Brisbane. The Down Under tour first began on Feb. 4, with the final scheduled show performed on Feb. 25.

“Due to a scheduling conflict, four of Drake’s 16 sold-out shows in Australia and New Zealand will be postponed,” a rep for Drake told Rolling Stone Australia at the time. “We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Drake and the entire team have had an incredible time doing these shows and are excited to return soon.”

Days later, on March 10, the “Jimmy Crooks” rapper posted a cryptic message about his “next chapter,” hinting that it may leave fans “feeling uneasy.”

“U know I grew up non confrontational and always treated this game as a sport where my pen won gold, but my these days the podium has been hard for all of us to ignore,” he wrote on Instagram. “I understand that this next chapter may leave you feeling uneasy, but I hope you see my honesty as clarity not charity that answers some questions especially about the unanswered texts you’ve been sending me. 😮‍💨.”

In the months since, Drake has made onstage appearances at various festivals, including Lollapalooza Argentina, Estereo Picnic in Bogota, Colombia, Dreamville Festival in Raleigh, N.C. and the Wireless Festival in London.

At the latter, the “Hotline Bling” hitmaker made headlines when he responded to the crowd after they started chanting, “F— Kendrick,” during one of his shows on July 12.

As PEOPLE reported at the time, the moment went down after Drake asked the audience to “name another artist” who matches his performance level, according to a video shared to social media. After the crowd started the chant, he took off his in-ears and told his longtime associate, Chubbs, “Grab me a shot. I’ll drink to that.”
