Jodie Sweetin, best known for playing Stephanie Tanner in Full House and the 2016 Netflix reboot, Fuller House, is opening up about her decades-long career in the entertainment industry.
During a June 2025 appearance on Kailyn Lowry‘s podcast, Barely Famous, Sweetin noted she has been on both scripted and reality television series over the years. According to Sweetin, she turned down an offer to appear in the FOX competition series, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, which premiered in 2023. She explained that she didn’t want to go on the series because she had filmed a similar competition show in 2022 called Beyond the Edge, where she and other celebrities showed off their strengths while in Panama.
“I got asked to do that and I feel like it was probably too close to Panama. And I was like, ‘I’ve done that s–t.’ But honestly, I’m good. I’ve done it,” said Sweetin.
The mother of two clarified she enjoyed filming for Beyond the Edge. She explained she felt more able to be away from technology and be alone with herself after the competition series.
“I liked it in the jungle. I had some beautiful moments in the jungle where we didn’t have our phones. And I have a different relationship with my phone and electronics since after I came back from the jungle,” said the actress.
While recording the podcast episode, Sweetin also noted that she competed on Season 22 of Dancing With the Stars, which premiered in 2016. She said that training for the series was intense.
“I wanted to work really hard, I danced six days a week. And there was no days off. And I worked Easter Sunday. And when you’re in it, you’re in it,” said Sweetin.
She also said she agreed to appear on DWTS because she was a dancer growing up and “used to watch ballroom competitions when [she] was in [her] teens.”
“I’ve always wanted to do it,” said Sweetin.
Sweetin made similar comments about her decision to be a DWTS competitor during a March 2016 interview with Good Morning America.
“I’ve always loved to dance. Stephanie was a dancer on [Full House], I danced growing up. Not as much as I would have liked to. I wouldn’t call myself a professional. But I have some experience. I have some rhythm,” said Sweetin.
