Peacemaker is paying homage to rock legend Ozzy Osbourne with a new season 2 trailer.
During the DC show’s Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, director James Gunn debuted the new trailer set to Osbourne’s song “Road to Nowhere” (the Black Sabbath singer died on Tuesday at 76).
“Ozzy Osbourne in the trailer — that was really sad the other day [when he died], and it wasn’t until this morning I remembered we had him in the trailer and in this season,” Gunn said. “The soundtrack this season is my favorite soundtrack I’ve ever done. It’s a lot more modern bands, a lot more songs from the past 10-15 years or so.”

The trailer finally reveals a lot of intel on what fans can expect from the new season. It’s been about a month since the events of Superman, which lead directly into Peacemaker season 2 as Peacemaker (John Cena) further explores his Quantum Unfolding Chamber, a.k.a. dimensional portal leading to parallel universes.
The footage also teases more of Peacemaker’s will-they-won’t-they relationship with Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) and his impending conflict with Rick Flag Sr. (Frank Grillo) over killing his son Rick Flag Jr. (Joel Kinnaman) in The Suicide Squad (2021).

Frank Grillo in ‘Peacemaker’
Earlier on Saturday, the Peacemaker director and stars stopped by Entertainment Weekly‘s Comic-Con video suite to discuss the new opening credits scene, and they all roasted new cast member Grillo for his dance moves.
“He is a terrible dancer,” Gunn said as everyone laughed. “But he was a trooper.”
“My knees were dying!” Grillo revealed.
Grillo told EW that he was not thrilled about having to film the opening credits dance because he didn’t know about it when he signed on to the series.
“I was really against it because I’m a serious actor,” Grillo said. “And I was reluctant. And little by little, I became the best dancer out of everyone.”

When the rest of the cast immediately denied that fact, Grillo added, “I thought so! But I had such a great time watching Tim Meadows suffer.”
Peacemaker finally returns with season 2 on Thursday, August 21, at 9 p.m. ET/PT, on HBO Max.
