  • Reser’s Fine Foods recalled several tuna salad products sold in grocery stores across seven states.

  • The products contain breadcrumbs that may be contaminated with Listeria, which can cause serious illness.

  • Customers should check their fridge and either throw away affected items or return them to their local store for a full refund.

A handful of tuna salads produced by Reser’s Fine Foods have been voluntarily recalled due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeria can cause serious infections that result in symptoms such as headaches, diarrhea, nausea, fever, and abdominal pain. For those with weakened immune systems, it can even be fatal or cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.

The affected tuna salads, made with breadcrumbs that may have been contaminated with Listeria, were sold at Jewel-Osco stores in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa, as well as Albertsons, Randalls, and Tom Thumb stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas.

The recalled products include items such as tuna salad with crackers, tuna salad snack trays, tuna salad croissants, and tuna salad sandwiches, all of which have a sell-by date between July 16 and July 19, 2025. For a complete list of the recalled products, along with their UPCs, visit the FDA recall alerts.

So far, no injuries or illnesses have been reported. However, consumers who purchased the tuna salad products are advised not to eat them and should either dispose of them or return them to their local store for a full refund.

Additionally, the FDA recommends that “anyone who purchased or received any recalled products use extra vigilance in cleaning and sanitizing any surfaces and containers that may have come in contact with these products to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.”
