Zac Brown’s Ex-Wife Breaks Silence on His Engagement to Kendra Scott originally appeared on Parade.
Zac Brown‘s ex-wife Kelly Yazdi is speaking out after the country singer announced his engagement to jewelry designer Kendra Scott.
On Thursday, July 24, Yazdi took to Instagram to share an update on the ongoing legal battle between her and her ex-husband. Brown filed a lawsuit against his ex in May 2024, alleging Yazdi defamed him with an Instagram post about being in a controlling and abusive relationship. Brown was not named in the post.
“First and foremost, I’ve tried to move on in my life, but I can’t snap my fingers and get out of this lawsuit. Zac has forced me into litigation so I have no choice but to defend myself against his circus,” she said in an Instagram Reel.
Brown also claimed that posting the poem was in violation of Yazdi’s employment agreement with his company, Zac Brown Collective.
“So back in May, the judge said at our hearing that he believes that this is just one big fat divorce case and I 100% agree with him,” she continued. “Zac continues to keep me in this divorce case masquerading as an employment lawsuit by repeatedly suing me in order to keep me silent.”

Yazdi said both she and Brown are legally required to be at the trial, which is scheduled for September 15.
“I can’t say I’m looking forward to our ‘reunion,'” she said. “But I am looking forward to putting this all behind me.”
Shortly after Yazdi’s video was posted, Brown announced his engagement to Scott. According to Yazdi, the gap between her video and his announcement was only 45 minutes.
In a second story, she put up a poll asking her followers for their thoughts on the timing, captioning it “Coincidence” with an eye-roll emoji.
Regardless of her thoughts on her ex, Yazdi insists she has no ill intent towards Scott or their engagement.
“This is also not about Zac’s new fiancée. I will forever be a girls’ girl, and I wish her the best,” she posted on her Instagram Story. “I would just hope that it would be more important to Zac to focus on his new engagement versus trying to control his last…but here we are.”
