Kelly Clarkson Reveals Which Grammy-Winning Singer Has Her Slapping the Floor & Fans Are Begging for a Collab originally appeared on Parade.
We may be huge fans of Kelly Clarkson, but which artist makes her lose her mind with excitement when they drop a new album? Thanks to an Instagram post shared by the “Because of You” singer on Thursday, July 25, we have an answer.
Kelly shared a new post on social media saying, “How it feels when Patty Griffin releases a new album.” The words were overlayed on a video clip from The Kelly Clarkson Show of the host herself being totally floored (literally!) by a surprise appearance from the folk music icon.
Clarkson added the caption, “I know what I’m listening to today and y’all should join me. Patty Griffin’s Crown of Roses is out today,” and a second slide on her Instagram post featuring cover art from Patty for her new album.

In the video, Kelly literally falls to the floor in shock and slaps it when she realizes that Patty is on camera. Fans can’t get enough of Kelly being a total fan girl over the fellow Grammy-winner, with comments like, “We feel this way when you release new music,” and, “Kelly promoting everyone but herself. lol love you queen.”
Others clearly vibe with her taste in music, sharing, “Literally just bought and downloaded and I’m listening to it as I write this. LOVE PATTY GRIFFIN,” and, “Soooo ready for this album!!”

And of course, multiple people begged her to do a collaboration with her on the “Songs & Stories” segment of her show. Fans left comments like, “Do a songs and stories session with her!!!!” and, “Pleaseee songs and stories with her!!!!”
The fans are of course referring to Kelly’s popular recurring segment on her talk show in which she interviews a musician about their personal journeys behind hit songs, and includes an intimate, acoustic performance.
It was recently announced that the segment has been expanded for primetime on NBC with a four-part miniseries set to debut in August. It will feature four guests — the Jonas Brothers, Lizzo, Gloria Estefan and Teddy Swims.
If it gets picked up for renewal, maybe NBC will consider an episode for Patty Griffin? We would LOVE to hear these two icons together!
