State Fair increasing security

The Illinois State Fair has enhanced security measures this year. Fair officials say walk-though security systems will be implemented at the grandstand and the list of banned items include drones and laser pointers.

The fair runs from Aug. 7 to Aug. 17 in Springfield.

Jacobs announces state Senate bid

State Rep. Paul Jacobs has announced he is running for the Illinois Senate, following Senator Dale Fowler’s decision to not seek reelection.

Jacobs has served in the Illinois House since 2021.

The Pomona Republican said he is running to ensure Southern Illinois continues to have strong, principled leadership in Springfield.

U.S. attorney approved

The U.S. District Court in Chicago has approved the appointment of Andrew Boutros as United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois.

Boutros has been serving in the position since he was appointed by Attorney General Pam Bondi earlier this year.

Boutros said the Chicago U.S. Attorney’s Office has always been one of the crown jewels of the Department of Justice, and he intends to carry forward that tradition.
