Matty Healy‘s mother is speaking out about his relationship with Taylor Swift — and she’s throwing a little shade.

Denise Welch, who is a British television personality and the mother of The 1975 frontman, was recently asked about Healy and Swift’s romance during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live.

Host Andy Cohen took the opportunity to ask what Welch though about Swift’s album, The Tortured Poets Department, which is reportedly about Healy. In response, she admitted that she couldn’t say much — but also wasn’t very complimentary.

“Obviously on pain of death can I talk about that episode but not being her mother-in-law is a role that I’m glad that I lost,” Welch admitted.

When Cohen looked shocked by Welch’s confession, she followed up by saying that she didn’t have “anything against her at all.”

“It was tricky,” Welch said, adding, “Listen, you’re not allowed to say anything and then she writes a whole album about it.”

She added that Healy has taken it “all in completely good graces” and he’s now in a new relationship with his fiancée, model Gabriella Bechtel.

“He’s very happy with his amazing fiancée Gabriella…who is gorgeous, so we’ve moved on,” Welch concluded.

Healy has been linked to the model, who also goes by Gabriette, since late 2023. In June 2024, Gabriella confirmed that Healy had proposed and they were engaged. The pair have yet to tie the knot.

Meanwhile, Swift has been linked to Travis Kelce since 2023. While the couple have now officially been dating for two years, they recently decided to make things Instagram official with a carousel of photos on Kelce’s account.
