Fans of the hit ABC series 9-1-1 will be happy about the latest update regarding the show’s upcoming spinoff, 9-1-1: Nashville.
Collider reported that 9-1-1: Nashville is currently in production. According to the publication, one of the new show’s stars, Jessica Capshaw, who plays Fire Captain Don Sharpe’s (Chris O’Donnell) wife, Blythe, gave some information about filming 9-1-1: Nashville on a July 2025 episode of her former Grey’s Anatomy co-star Camilla Luddington‘s podcast, Call It What It Is. According to Capshaw, “this show is mostly on location so [the cast is] always in different places.”
Capshaw also said she has enjoyed working with her on-screen son, Michael Provost.
“My first work was with Michael, and I adore him. I feel so, so lucky to have such a talented and kind and just awesome person to work with,” said Capshaw on the podcast.
In addition, Capshaw referenced that she previously worked with O’Donnell on the Grey’s Anatomy spinoff series, Private Practice.
“I adore [him] and have known him for a really long time. I remember feeling like a baby actress, and I remember feeling like he was not a baby actor. He was accomplished, and I’d seen so many movies he’d done that I love so much,” said the actress.
She said she had a particular fondness for O’Donnell’s 1995 movie, Circle of Friends.
“I remember [it] being super romantic… It has Normal People vibes. He’s so charming. He’s just super charming, and he’s very funny and a real professional,” said Capshaw.
O’Donnell discussed filming the upcoming series in Nashville, Tennessee during a May 2025 interview with TV Line. According to O’Donnell, he was excited to start production in the city because he has “a lot of friends there.”
“I’m just excited for the culture, the music, the whole town,” said the actor.
While speaking to TV Line, O’Donnell teased some information about his character.
“He’s married. He has a son who works at the firestation,” said O’Donnell during the interview.
9-1-1: Nashville is set to premiere in October 2025.
