Zach Bryan sparked debate among his fanbase after a heated exchange with a 14-year-old fan went viral on social media.

The country music star’s response to criticism has divided supporters, with some questioning whether the singer crossed a line in his interaction.

The controversy began following Bryan’s three-night concert series at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium. A fan posted a now-deleted TikTok, claiming they had waited hours after the show hoping to meet the “Something in the Orange” singer.

“We waited until 4:00 AM,” the user wrote, according to American Songwriter. The video allegedly showed Bryan “driving away from his fans that waited 4 hours to meet him; he didn’t even roll down his window to say hi.”

The post quickly gained traction, catching the attention of Bryan himself. Rather than ignoring the criticism, the 29-year-old country singer chose to directly address the fan’s complaint.

Bryan reportedly wrote, “You’re not entitled after someone plays two and a half hours to a picture or a hello.” The singer didn’t stop there, adding the acronym “GOMD,” which stands for “Get Off My D–k.”

The young fan responded, “I’m literally a 14-year-old fan and this video was literally a joke,” adding, “What a [d–k .]”

The exchange quickly spread beyond TikTok when Country Central’s Instagram account shared screenshots of the conversation.

The reaction from Bryan’s fanbase has been notably split. One critic wrote, “He just continues to show his true colors, great musician, abrasive human being,” while another added, “love zach bryan but man did he f up with this one.”

However, some fans have rallied to defend Bryan’s position, arguing that performers shouldn’t be expected to meet every fan who attends their shows. “Didn’t expect to agree with Zach Bryan but he is right on this one. Artists don’t owe you a photo or interaction,” one fan bluntly stated.

Some fans attempted to find middle ground in the heated debate. “I mean, he’s not wrong. Maybe could have said it better though,” wrote one commenter.

The controversy gained additional momentum when fellow country artist Gavin Adcock entered the conversation. Adcock, who recently made headlines for his criticism of Beyoncé’s country album, found himself in opposition to Bryan.

“If you can’t handle the criticism of a 14 year old why do people idolize you?” Adcock wrote. “That kid was head over heels to meet you and spent/parents spent a ton of money to see you,” he added. “He’s got feelings too and you’re a ‘grown man’ nearly 30.”
