King Charles is preparing to return to public engagements after a brief hospital stay related to side effects from his cancer treatment.

The monarch is paying attention to his health and has reportedly canceled a few public engagements and two holidays he had planned with his wife.

King Charles’ hospitalization was seemingly kept hush from his son, Prince Harry, as the Palace didn’t want to “cause unnecessary alarm.”

Charles is reportedly prepping to resume public duties following a short hospitalization for the side effects of his cancer treatment.

According to the Daily Mail, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the king enjoyed a “restful” weekend and is back to a relatively normal working week following his hospitalization.

He is said to have returned to Windsor Cast to pick up duties again, including a “regular mix of public engagements, State duties and private meetings.”

It is also understood that his treatment would continue for the foreseeable future as Palace sources say his hospitalization at The London Clinic was a “minor bump” in his positive road to recovery.

Charles will now undertake an investiture at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, as well as some official duties and meetings at Buckingham Palace.

These meetings include his weekly audience with the Prime Minister on Wednesday, meeting three new ambassadors on Thursday, and undertaking engagements in London and Windsor towards the end of the week.

The king was all smiles as he was spotted leaving Clarence House on Friday in a black Audi, waving at well-wishers.

Meanwhile, some of Charles’ engagements have seemingly been canceled or readjusted to further aid his recovery efforts.

According to The Sun, Charles and Camilla have canceled a visit to a luxury spa resort in Africa amid his ongoing treatment, and he has also pulled out of an annual trip to Romania, where he was due to hike in the countryside this spring.

“He adores Romania and looks forward to visiting every year, but it would have involved just too much walking, and he can’t face it right now,” a source told the news outlet.

However, he and his wife, Queen Camilla, would proceed to Italy for a royal tour in a week’s time and would celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary on April 9 while there.

Charles was sidelined in the early part of last year as he was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer, only returning to public-facing duties in April despite still undergoing weekly treatment at the time.

He has since picked up his “workaholic” nature as he continues to recover from cancer.

Following his recent hospitalization, Buckingham Palace said in a statement that adjustments to his schedule were only a “precautionary measure,” apologizing for every inconvenience caused.

“Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, the King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital,” the Palace announced, per The Express.

“His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed,” the statement continued. “His Majesty has now returned to Clarence House and as a precautionary measure, acting on medical advice, tomorrow’s (Friday’s) diary program will also be rescheduled.”

“His Majesty would like to send his apologies to all those who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result,” the statement read.

Prince Harry Was Kept In The Dark About His Father’s Hospitalization

It seemed the Palace didn’t want to create so much fuss around Charles’s state of health as The Sun reports that his son Prince Harry wasn’t told that his father was hospitalized.

According to the news outlet, a source explained that it was done that way because Buckingham Palace didn’t want to “cause unnecessary alarm.”

“[I]t looks like the duke only found out about his father’s latest health update through the media when it was announced publicly to the rest of the world,” the Express reported.

The Duke of Sussex has been estranged from Charles for several years now after he and his wife, Meghan Markle, quit their royal roles to relocate abroad.

He made a frantic dash to see Charles last year following his cancer diagnosis but was only granted a short meeting with the king.
