(The Center Square) – A new $60 million cold storage facility is bringing 50 new jobs to a small county on Georgia’s coast, Gov. Brian Kemp said Wednesday.

Ti Cold and Karis Cold broke ground on the project in McIntosh County, population of just under 11,000 according to the U.S. Census. It’s the largest economic development win for the county, Kemp said.

“Companies like Ti Cold, Karis Cold, and PermaCold Logistics, as well as our reliable and fast-growing ports and highway systems, support logistics industry jobs in every corner of the state,” Kemp said. “I’m grateful for the decision to open this facility and bring even more jobs to hardworking rural Georgians.”

Ti Cold provides cold storage construction and development services, according to a news release from Kemp’s office. The facility’s location is the Tidewaters Industrial Park, a Georgia Ready for Accelerated Development site in Darien, the county seat.

“We’ve had the privilege of building in Georgia many times over the years, and we’re thrilled to be working in McIntosh County,” said Sam Tippmann, founder and CEO of Ti Cold. “The support we’ve received has been incredible – from the state officials to the team in McIntosh County, and the City of Darien.”

McIntosh County is located along the I-95 corridor and is accessible to the state’s ports.

“This project not only brings high-quality jobs and economic opportunity but also strengthens the industrial foundation we’ve been working hard to build,” said Kate Pontello Karwacki, chairwoman of the McIntosh County Board of Commissioners.
