No one’s dating history is ever safe on The View.
Case in point: Joy Behar confirmed on Thursday’s broadcast that her daughter Eve once “went on a couple dates” with the show’s stage manager, Paul, years ago. And yes, before you can ask, Paul still works on the show and appeared to be thoroughly embarrassed over his romantic past being casually brought up on national television.
Paul and Eve’s connection came up as part of a chat about the rise of singles hiring matchmakers in New York City following the release of Celine Song’s romantic drama, The Materialists. Rather than hiring someone, Behar noted that she prefers setting people up on dates herself.
“Didn’t you hook up your daughter with Paul, our stage manager?” Sunny Hostin asked the comedian, pointing off camera to the man in question. Behar confirmed: “Paul went out with my daughter years ago.”

Which is naturally when the camera cut to reveal a very sheepish-looking Paul. Shaking his head in disbelief, he quickly clarified that his dates with Eve took place “a long time ago.”
But Hostin wasn’t letting the manager out of the hot seat just yet. “But there was a hook up, right, Paul?” she pressed as the audience burst into laughter. Paul quickly shook his head no in response.
“No, I had nothing to do with that,” Behar declared. With a hand placed over her heart, she sternly reminded Hostin: “You’re talking about my child!”
Taking a sip from her drink, Hostin meekly replied, “I apologize. I apologize!”
Sara Haines went on to explain that Paul and Eve have both gone their separate ways since their dating days and are now “happily married” to other people with families of their own. Eve tied the knot with Alphonso Anthony Scotti in 2007, and the couple share a son named Luca.

“But he went on a couple dates with her, I think, right?” Behar asked Paul. Pointing toward Behar, Haines joked, “You could’ve been calling her mom!”
Paul, genuinely just trying to do his job, quietly shook his head in response to Haines’ teasing and covered his face with his hand.

“He does anyway,” Behar fired back. “The guy at the cafeteria calls me Mommy. ‘What do you like to eat?’ I like that.”
Ana Navarro cheered, “Call her Mommy!”
