George Kittle is opening up about “[making it] work” earlier this week when Taylor Swift hit the stage for a surprise performance of “Shake it Off” during the Tight Ends & Friends concert on Tuesday, June 24.
The tight end for the San Francisco 49ers (the team that lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024), was on hand for Tight End University, where the couple that is “the closest America will ever come to royalty” finally made their red carpet debut nearly two years after going public with their relationship.
Kittle, who co-foundedthe training camp with Travis Kelce and Greg Olsen, detailed part of the headline-making concert in a new video making the rounds on social media, though it’s not clear who originally uploaded it at this time, offering a bit of insight into how the impromptu performance came to be.

He started in the snippet reposted by a Taylor Swift fan account on X, “Like, ‘Ah, come on man—Taylor Swift said she might perform, you’re gonna not perform?’ And so he went out and did a song with Jordan Davis, which was awesome,” presumably referring to Luke Combs, who appeared on stage with the “Next Thing You Know” singer.
He continued, “Taylor could not have been kinder, more nice, and she was like, ‘You know what, I think it might be fun to go sing “Shake it Off,”’ and we were like, ‘It’d be amazing!’”
“Twist my arm, Taylor, please,” he joked. “So we made that one work. She was fantastic, I mean, for the venue, I think it was maybe a thousand people—that was the loudest thousand people I’ve ever heard in my entire life. It was an incredible experience. I think everybody had a lot of fun watching that one.”
