Dakota Johnson has a new fur baby in her life!
The 35-year-old actress debuted her adorable new puppy, Tokyo, on the June 10 episode of Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, bringing the newly adopted dog on set for the interview.
“We rescued her on Saturday from the Santa Barbara pound,” Johnson shared in the previously recorded episode. “I didn’t plan on it.”

Noting that her dog Zeppelin died in December at the age of 17, Johnson said that she’d originally thought, “It’s gonna be a while,” before she welcomed a new pet, adding, “But then I saw her, and she’s an angel!”
During the podcast, Tokyo sat in Johnson’s lap, sniffed and gnawed at the microphone, and drank water from her dog mom’s mug.
“She’s a performer,” Johnson quipped. “Honestly, she has come alive on camera. She normally hides in the back of her crate. She’s really timid. And now she’s like, here I am.”
The Materialists star joked to her new dog, “You’re an actress just like your mom!”

After Poehler explained that she doesn’t allow dogs in her office, Johnson urged the Saturday Night Live star’s employees to come work for her.
“Dogs are allowed in my office,” she said. “So if anyone who works for Amy wants to come to Tea Time, bring your dog. Bring your dog.”
PEOPLE has reached out to the Santa Barbara Humane Society for comment on Tokyo’s adoption.

Johnson opened up about her late dog Zeppelin back in June 2024 prior to his death in an interview with TalkHouse.
“I really love my dog. His name is Zeppelin, he is 16 years old, and I’ve had him since I was 18,” Johnson said at the time. “We’ve basically grown up together. He is extremely smart and sweet and perfect and soulful. He’s always been a very healing dog for people, so I made him a certified emotional support animal. Which is just the sweetest thing ever.”

At the time, Johnson also added that Zeppelin’s health “isn’t great at the moment,” noting, “It’s not something I have ever worried about before, because he’s been healthy for so long that I didn’t think we were ever going to reach a different point. I believed he was just going to always be OK, because love makes you delusional.”
Johnson’s podcast interview with Poehler appears to have been recorded prior to her split from Coldplay frontman Chris Martin.
In early June, multiple sources told PEOPLE that the longtime couple had officially split. Although they had been on-again, off-again for years, the insider noted that this time felt “final.”
