The book that’s been in the works since at least 2020, draws its title from social media rumors in the ‘90s that the notorious hard-partying rocker, who hung out with Keith Richards and Johnny Depp, had died.
Dando, who was once called the “poster boy—and prettiest boy—of Gen X” by The New York Times, is now living in South America and has new music out now and a full album, Love Chant, coming in the fall of 2025. It’s the first album of new material by the Lemonheads in 20 years. The single and video for the new song “Deep End” was released on May 14.
“Fame was never what motivated him but the lure of the wild life proved trickier to refuse,” reads press materials provided by Gallery Books, the book’s publisher.
“His memoir will remind readers what was so great about the pre-internet ’90s: the innocence, the access, and the anonymity. Reclaiming the purity and exuberance of his early days and encapsulating the spirit of the era, this candid autobiography presents a portrait of an artist who lives wholly for his music, and one that makes no apologies for doing so,” the statement adds.
