When he shot to fame in the 1980s as the lead singer of Culture Club, Boy George was known for his long braids, quirky hats and dramatic makeup. Four decades later, the singer’s look has changed quite a bit — but he’s just as colorful as ever, as a recent sighting proved.
In a video shared to TikTok recently, the 63-year-old greeted fans outside the Al Hirschfeld Theatre in New York City, where he’s currently starring as Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical. The long braids from his early career were nowhere to be seen, and his hat — a black beanie — wasn’t unusual, but his makeup was stunningly vibrant. He was dressed comfortably, wearing black sweats and red sneakers.
Commenters loved seeing the musical legend interacting with his fans.
“Still love your music today and always,” one person declared, with somebody adding, “Love his music! Bring back the 80’s.”
“I love him so much! So talented,” gushed someone else, as yet another fan declared, “He is an icon forever.”

After playing Zidler in Moulin Rouge in 2024 for a limited engagement, George returned to the role earlier this year. He made his Broadway debut in 2003, co-writing and starring in the musical Taboo, which earned him a Tony nomination for Best Original Score.
In March, he opened up to Us Weekly about his diverse career, explaining, “I mean, obviously I do my 80s stuff with Culture Club and I like that. But also, I get to do all sorts of things. I’m DJing tonight. I have a very varied [workload] — I’m doing Broadway. I’m always doing something.”
