‘80s film icon Sylvester Stallone is speaking out about the heartbreaking death of his Rocky III costar, Hulk Hogan. Hogan died at the age of 71 on Thursday, July 24, 2025. Stallone is one of the first celebrities to speak out about the legendary pro wrestler and actor’s life and legacy, quickly taking to his own social media platforms to express his heartbreak.

In a post shared to Instagram, the Rocky star wrote, “I had the pleasure of meeting this brilliant personality and showman when he was 26 years old. He was absolutely wonderful and his amazing skill made Rocky III incredibly special. My heart breaks. I think that he’s gone…”
Stallone shared a picture of him and Hogan, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, taken while filming Rocky III. In the photo, the WWE star towers over Stallone as he flexes his imposing stare and physique.

Hogan was still an up-and-coming wrestler when Stallone cast him as Thunderlips in Rocky III. The role catapulted Hogan to international stardom, and the two remained friends throughout the years.
