Lynyrd Skynyrd was forced to cancel their appearance at the Wisconsin State Fair due to flash flooding on Saturday, August 9, 2025, after several delays. The band was on site for the event and planned to go on at 7:30 p.m., but as the severe weather quickly evolved, the performance was first delayed, then cancelled by fair organizers.

“We are sad to inform you that the Lynyrd Skynyrd Main Stage concert has been canceled due to severe weather,” the event shared on Facebook. “While we tried everything within our control to allow this show to go on, for the safety of our artists, team, and Fairgoers, we cannot host this concert.”

A video of the Milwaukee fairgrounds shows families trudging through ankle-deep water as rain pelts them, but many opted to wait out the storm in hopes the band would still go on, and were disappointed to be left without a show.

“Very disappointed with the late notice, should have called it at 6!!!” said one frustrated commenter. However, others appreciated the commitment to safety from event organizers. “You did the right thing. It’s terrible out there,” said one fan, and another agreed, writing, “Protect the fans, Fairgoers & Band players above anything else!”

The fair announced fans will automatically get refunds on tickets purchased through their official ticket provider, Etix, which will take 7-14 days to process. Those who paid cash at the door were told to “visit the Ticket Office to receive their refund Monday-Friday between 9am-3pm… as long as they bring the original tickets and ID.”

Lynyrd Skynyrd, comprised of Rickey Medlocke, Johnny Van Zant, Carol Chase, Stacy Michelle, Michael Cartellone, Mark Matejka, Peter Keys, Robbie Harrington, and Damon Johnson, has not commented on the cancellation.
