Transportation and Accommodation Incentives
If you’re flexible about hotel stays and plan on renting a car, as well as flying to your destination, then consider transportation and accommodation bundles. You can expect significant discounts.
Travel bundles that include flights, hotels and rental cars are typically 10% to 30% discounted compared to booking each item separately, according to Alonso Marly of SkyLux Travel.

Hidden Perks
Travel bundles can afford you special access or hidden perks that add up. These can include waived resort fees, free airport transfers or complimentary breakfasts.
Marly uses the example of resort fees: If a resort charges $30 per day for five nights, you can save $150, on top of shuttle and breakfast savings.
Tour and Ticket Discounts
Weighing the potential for travel agent markups versus discounts takes some pre-planning, especially on organized activities that can save you money. Consider current discounts for packages that take place throughout the year.
For instance, The Rocky Mountaineer tour has promotions throughout the year. This includes one that saves you up to $1,000 per couple or $500 per person on the luxury train from Vancouver to Banff, kicking off the spring season in April.
Other smaller, sightseeing packages also highlight discounts, such as local, historic neighborhood tours and guides. Chris Falvey of Unique NOLA Tours offers a summer discount only on their site for 20% off all tickets, so you’d save $30 for a group of four.
Untraditional Routes
Considering alternative travel packages such as volunteering abroad or underrated destinations can help save you money or take it further. Off-the-beaten path locales or smaller tours can help you avoid crowds.
