Right now prices are “holding steady,” Erin Keating, Executive Analyst, Cox Automotive noted in a statement, and prices on certain models are expected to drop this summer.

On average, new cars cost $48,799, per Kelley Blue Book, but shoppers could see them fall below $30,000 for a new crossover due to high competition in the market.
With fears of a recession looming and the economy shaky, consumers are nervous to buy. The Consumer Confidence Index increased by 17.4 points to 72.8, but fell short of the 80 point threshold which usually indicates a recession is coming. With that in mind, it could be the time to buy if you’re in the market and prices do, in fact, plummet.
Here are four crossovers that are anticipated to drop in price or are already on sale, according to Rob Dillan, automotive expert and founder of EVhype.

2025 Ford Escape
Ford Escapes are well-liked for their comfort, smooth ride, fuel-efficiency and overall great value — and the base model is expected to drop to $28,150, with the plug-in hybrid version dropping $2,100 in price, as well.
“This pair of cuts is the latest in Ford’s attempt to get leaner in the compact SUV market, which is currently bloated,” Dillan stated. “The new technology features on the Escape and other innovations, like the Co-Pilot 360 suite, are bound to resonate with customers who want to get a great value, which quality and safety are a part of.”

2025 Nissan Rogue
Known for its practicality and high-quality interior, the Nissan Rogue is now offering 0% APR financing, and up to $2,000 in savings for qualified buyers through June 30, 2025.

2025 Chevrolet Trax
The 2025 Chevrolet Trax arrives with a class-leading starting price of $21,895 per Car and Driver, but you can find one on sale for $19,795.

2025 Hyundai Venue
A 2025 Hyundai Venue is usually priced around $24,000, but you can find one now for $21,650, according to TrueCar. It’s a stylish, affordable choice for buyers in the market for an efficient subcompact crossover.
“A city driver’s dream — this subcompact SUV is small enough to easily handle in traffic, but big enough for a small family with a 2.0L engine,” Dillan stated.
