Brad Arnold, the lead singer of the rock group 3 Doors Down, has been diagnosed with a form of kidney cancer.

In a video posted to Instagram on Wednesday, Arnold said, “Got some not so good news for you today. I’d been sick a couple weeks ago, and then I went to the hospital and got checked out and had actually got the diagnosis that I had clear cell renal cell carcinoma that had metastasized in my lung, and that’s stage 4, and that’s not real good.”

But the musician, 46, reassured fans, saying, “We serve a mighty God. And he can overcome anything. So I have no fear. I really, sincerely am not scared of it at all.”

The “Kryptonite” artist went on to say that while he’s staying strong, his health news would affect his band’s upcoming performance dates.

“It is gonna force us to cancel our tour this summer, and we’re sorry for that,” said Arnold, the only original band member who’s still part of the group that rose to fame in the early aughts with hits such as “Here Without You” and “When I’m Gone.” The band had been slated to appear alongside Creed and other groups from that era over the summer.

Arnold ended with a plea for prayers and a reference to a song from the Grammy-nominated group’s fourth album, which was released in 2008.

“I’d love for you to lift me up in prayer every chance you get,” he said. “And I think it’s time for me to listen to ‘It’s Not My Time’ a little bit, right?”

The lyrics to that song include such lines as, “But it’s not my time, I’m not going / There’s a fear in me, it’s not showing / This could be the end of me / And everything I know / But it’s not my time, I’m not going.”

In a caption accompanying the video, Arnold and 3 Doors Down said, “Thank you for all the memories so far. Now, I believe ‘IT’S NOT MY TIME’ is really my song. This’ll be a battle so we need our prayers warriors! Thank y’all for being the best fans in the world. We love y’all!”

Some recognizable names were among the well-wishers in the comments.

Creed’s Scott Stapp wrote, “If anyone has the FAITH and STRENGTH to face this fight, it’s YOU brother. You and your family are in my prayers daily. We can do ALL things through CHRIST. I think I can speak for all of us, we are lifting you up in prayer right now believing without doubt for your total healing! I love you bro.”

Meanwhile, Chris Daughtry commented: “Sending you love my brother.”

And country star Jason Aldean said, “Man I hate to hear that Brad. Praying for ya brother.”
