Previous Tony winners Sarah Paulson (Appropriate) and Wendell Pierce (Clybourne Park) announced the nominees who will compete for trophies honoring the standout Broadway plays and musicals of the past year on Thursday morning.

Of the 21 eligible musicals, Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her, and Maybe Happy Ending scored the most nominations, with 10 each. Dead Outlaw and Sunset Blvd. followed behind them with seven noms each, while the new Jonathan Groff–starring production Just in Time nabbed six.

Leading the nominations for Broadway plays — which also faced stiff competition, with 21 eligible titles — were the Sadie Sink–starring John Proctor Is the Villain and The Hills of California, which each received seven nominations. The Good Night, and Good Luck adaptation received five noms, which included a lead acting nomination for George Clooney, while the original hit Mary Todd Lincoln parody Oh, Mary! also received five noms, including best lead acting performance for star Cole Escola, who also wrote it.

With her lead actress nod for the revival of Gypsy, Audra McDonald becomes the most-nominated performer in Tony Awards history with 11 nominations total. Succession star Sarah Snook, who is already halfway to an EGOT, got her first Tony nomination for her one-woman show, a modern retelling of Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Wicked‘s Cynthia Erivo takes over hosting duties this summer, following West Side Story star and Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, who emceed the show for three years in a row.

The 78th Annual Tony Awards will air live from Radio City Music Hall on Sunday, June 8, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on CBS and Paramount+.
