2025 NFL schedule release, betting, odds: Eagles open as big favorites against Cowboys in NFL opener

Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles, fresh off a 40-22 demolition of Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, will open the season Sept. 4 in a Thursday home game against the Dallas Cowboys — and the Eagles have opened as prohibitive favorites.

BetMGM opened the Eagles as 7-point favorites against the Cowboys, with a total of 46.5. Philadelphia’s moneyline is -325, with Dallas coming back at +260.

Philadelphia was 11-6 against the spread in the 2024-25 regular season, while Dallas went a disappointing 7-10 ATS. The Cowboys were 6-8 ATS in the underdog role, while the Eagles were 10-7 ATS as favorites. Philadelphia didn’t reward spread bettors last season as a big favorite, going 2-3 ATS as a favorite of a touchdown or greater (with both covers coming against the Cowboys). However, the Eagles did win all five games outright as touchdown-or-greater favorites.

The Eagles handily beat the Cowboys in both meetings last season, winning by a combined score of 75-13. Dallas played the second game in Week 17 without starting QB Dak Prescott, who had been lost for the season with a hamstring injury.

Philadelphia is also currently the +650 favorite to win Super Bowl LX at BetMGM, followed closely by the Baltimore Ravens (+700), Buffalo Bills (+750) and Kansas City Chiefs (+750).
